Day 13

A soft answer turneth away wrath:
the skies of Damascus run red and bright.
Cry forth on Twitter, build a liar’s path:
A soft answer turneth away wrath.
The devil’s in the details, sycophants craft,
Children are gasping, blood pools tonight
A soft answer turneth away wrath,
the skies of Damascus run red and bright.

Today’s prompt was to upend an aphorism and run with it.

I couldn’t. So, I tried a new form: a triolet, while also trying to incorporate an aphorism.

A triolet is an 8-line poem, where the first line is repeated in lines four and seven, and the 2nd line is also the last. The rhyme scheme is ABAAABAB.

I like what this might become, as I weep for the children of Syria.

  1. Quite brilliant! Such a terrible mess in Syria. How does sending in more more missiles help anyone, but arms manufacturers and political egos? Face to face meetings of the people so keen to press buttons should be happening.
