Isabella

I missed both the original dVerse challenge, and the open link night, but here’s my response (having some fun) to Come Hang With Me!, where the challenge is to find something in your house that speaks to you, and write a poem. I’ve always wondered what Isabella is thinking as she watches our modern lives.

Isabella
watches wide-eyed.
as we run up and down stairs,
in and out of the house,
frantic for lost keys,
a misplaced phone,
the homework that was never done.

Isabella,
perfectly prim,
do we shock you,
wandering dishabille
in the mornings,
in search of coffee?

Isabella,
ringlets of glory,
do you envy
our messy buns, our baseball caps,
our dry shampoo?

Isabella,
pride of place,
sees all, knows all
can you tell us
who ate all the cookies?
